Experience

  • Completion of initial needs assessments.

Key Skills

Kate is a registered nurse with particular expertise and post registration qualification in Critical Care. She has worked in both acute and community settings, including orthopaedics, critical care, and as the clinical coordinator of complex care packages for children and adults requiring long term ventilation as a result of spinal and/or traumatic brain injury. She has extensive experience of setting up and continued management of complex ventilator dependent care packages in the community for both adults and children. She currently manages a varied case load of clients, including children with very complex respiratory needs. Kate is able to offer training for support staff on many aspects of care including respiratory management, ventilation, tracheostomies, oxygen therapy, artificial feeding and administration of medication. Kate is able to offer specialised Buccal Midazolam training for clients with epilepsy, their families and support workers.

Kate communicates effectively with clients and families to identify goals and achieve optimum outcomes for every individual, whilst liaising and managing multidisciplinary input. She advocates strongly on behalf of her clients to ensure best interest decisions are reached.

  • Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council.
  • Member of the British Association of Brain Injury Case Managers (BABICM) at Registered Practitioner level.
  • Member of the Royal College of Nursing
  • Regular attendance of courses pertaining to areas of clinical and Case management practice.

Kate also works as Nurse Coordinator for the Nurse advisory service at ILS for clients with specific nursing needs.

Present - case manager with ILS working with children and adults with complex needs. Within this role Kate’s key responsibilities are to provide comprehensive needs assessment, make and carry out recommendations to maximize her client’s rehabilitation potential utilising the skills and experience gained from her extensive nursing career.

Previous employment

2012 – 2017 - Case Manager with Anglia Case Management - providing case management support to adults, children and their families, recruiting and managing care teams, taking a specialist interest in nursing issues.

2008 – 2012 - Nursing Coordinator - Invent Health - managing support packages for ventilator dependent adults and children in the community.
