Ian Conyers

Overview
Ian qualified in 1975 after studying in Occupational Therapy in York. He also holds qualifications in counselling and psychology and has successfully completed an MSc, his dissertation concerning sensory issues in adults with autism.
Ian’s career has given him experience in working with a variety of cases/conditions, particularly with people having neurological or developmental conditions. He has worked with individuals of all ages, their families and paid carers. He has worked alongside, and managed, a variety of different health professionals, including occupational therapists, clinical psychologists, physiotherapists, speech and language therapists, and dieticians.
He is also an experienced trainer and for many years has provided mentoring and clinical supervision to other professionals.

Independent Living Solutions Ltd as an independent Case Manager/Occupational Therapist working with adults and children who have suffered neurological trauma. Ian is also a Professional Mentor/Supervisor to other ILS Case Managers.
1984 - 2009 Bradford District Care Trust
Professional Lead Occupational Therapist (learning disabilities) and also responsible for managing a multi-disciplinary team. Clinically working with adults and young adolescents with learning disabilities, including those with complex needs, challenging behaviour and autism.
1983 - 1984. Leeds General Hospital
Deputy Head OT working in general rehab and hand injuries.
1983 Military Hospital, Saudi Arabia
Senior Occupational Therapist working in neurological and general rehabilitation wards.
1981 - 1983 Leeds Metropolitan Council
Senior OT working with young disabled adults in residential and special care units. Adults with different physical or neurological conditions, including head injury, learning disability, cerebral palsy, spina bifida, etc.
1980 - 1981 Staincliffe Hospital, Dewsbury
Senior Occupational Therapist working in NHS child development unit. All children had developmental delay due to neuro-developmental conditions such as cerebral palsy, down's syndrome, hydrocephalus, autism.
1976 -1979 Kings Lynn Health Authority
Occupational Therapist working in neuro-rehab, elderly service and then neuro/developmental children. Studied rehabilitation studies at Southampton University (1979 - 1980).
