January 1991 – July 2008
Employed by the Treloar Trust as an Occupational Therapist at Treloar’s School in Alton, Hampshire. Students at Treloar’s had a range of physical and cognitive abilities. Amanda’s work involved the assessment of students in all areas of life including; personal care, educational access, seating and mobility, leisure, domestic and community skills. It also involved the prescription of appropriate equipment and training in specific skills to increase independence. Amanda worked closely with carers, therapists of other disciplines, teachers, learning support assistants and rehabilitation engineers. She supervised other staff within the Occupational Therapy team.
October 1988 – December 1990
Employed by Hampshire Social Services as a Community Occupational Therapist. Assessed the needs of disabled people of all ages within a given geographical area covered by the Alton office. Recommended equipment, techniques of working and adaptations. Procured equipment and grants for adaptations and offered support to disabled people and their families.
September 1985 – October 1988
Worked as a Unit Leader within a care team at Lord Mayor Treloar School. Responsible for co-ordinating the care of nine disabled boys aged 12 to 16 and liaising with therapy and medical staff to ensure therapy and medical needs were met within day-to-day care routines as appropriate.
