Overview

Whilst having broad experience of managing care and working with clients of all ages with a wide range of conditions, Pippa has specific experience and expertise in the area of proving care for children with special needs.

Pippa qualified as a Nurse in 1975, a Health Visitor & District Nurse in 1976, and a Midwife in 1978. After a break to have a family, she undertook a Return to Nursing course in 1998.

2010 – Present

Case Manager/Nurse for Independent Living Solutions Ltd.

2004 – Present

Advanced Foster Carer, working with Barnardos to give respite care to children with disabilities, particularly focussing on the needs of one child and his family, also providing parental support and advocacy.

2009 – Present

District Nurse working with a range of patients with needs varying from wound care to pain management and conditions such as multiple sclerosis, diabetes, spinal injuries and dementia. The role has entailed a large amount of case management and coordination of services as part of the community team.

2007 – 2009

Specialist School Nurse at Hillside Special Needs School for Severely Disabled Children. This involved a high degree of epilepsy management, training others in gastrostomy management and general coordination of services for the children in her care. Children’s needs ranged from profound and multiple disabailities to autism and cerebral palsy. It included caring for those with genetically acquired conditions and traumatic birth damage.

2007 – 2002

District Nurse as part of a team in the community to provide a coordinated service to adults including young people with learning disabilities and elderly patients, as well as providing palliative care and chronic disease management. This included coordinating packages of care to assist people to stay in their homes. Pippa also mentored student nurses and managed the team when needed.

2000 – 2002

Practice Nurse working with children and adults with a wide variety of needs including immunisations, travel care and holistic health assessments.

1999 – 2000

District Nurse having returned to nursing and working as part of the bank team across the city of Brighton & Hove serving patients with mulitiple and varied needs.

1979 – 1985

Community Midwife. As well as working in hospital, she was also part of the community domicilliary service including providing home deliveries.
