Overview

Liz is a state registered occupational therapist who qualified in 1998 from Southampton University with a BSc (Hons) Occupational Therapy. She has worked as a senior occupational therapist in paediatrics since 2000. She has worked with children who have a wide range of complex physical, sensory and learning needs from birth to nineteen years of age. Liz is employed by Independent Living Solutions as a Case Manager and Occupational Therapist.

June 2008 – June 2011

Senior Paediatric Occupational Therapist working for a City Council providing assessment and recommendations for major equipment and housing adaptation. Liz had the responsibility for developing and managing the Occupational Therapy service within the children’s disability team. This included work with young people up to eighteen years of age who were transitioning into adulthood.

April 2000 – June 2008

Senior Paediatric Occupational Therapist with lead responsibility for children with sensory processing disorders and therapy through play groups for 0-5 year olds with complex needs. Liz has led a team providing assessment and management of children at a special school. This includes specialist equipment provision and manual handling advice for children with complex needs at school and home. Liz has also been involved in the rehabilitation of children and adolescents with acute injuries and neurological conditions. Liz has experience of key-working for families and helping to co-ordinate the multi-agency team around the child. She was a trainer for the ‘Early Support’ Framework.

Sept 1999-April 2000

Rotational Junior Occupational Therapist - four month rotations in elderly orthopaedics and acute inpatient work.

September 1998 –Sept 1999

Rotational Junior Occupational Therapist - six month rotations in general medicine, acute neurology and paediatrics.

Liz has many years’ experience in specialist equipment provision for children. She has expertise in problem solving complex manual handling issues. Liz also has experience in helping families, carers and education staff to implement therapy programmes for children in a variety of settings.
