Overview

Sue qualified in July 2007 as an Occupational Therapist from the Essex School of Occupational Therapy. Sue has case management experience as an Occupational Therapist in Child Development working with children with complex difficulties including Motor Coordination Difficulties, Developmental Delay and Cerebral Palsy. She is currently working as a Case Manager for Social Services and has a broad range of experience and skills with children, working age adults and adults over 65. Sue has extensive knowledge and experience in major adaptations and specialist equipment for adults and children. Sue has also trained as a Safeguards Practitioner as part of her case management role.

Essex County Council Working as a Case Manager in the community providing Person Centred Occupational Therapy Assessments for specialist equipment and major adaptations for children, working age adults and adults over 65 with complex needs.

November 2007 – June 2008

Paediatric Occupational Therapist
Working from a child development centre and in the community, this role included working closely with the departments Paediatric Consultant, Psychologist, Speech and Language Therapist, Physiotherapist and Social Worker. The role involved undertaking standardised assessments for preschool age children, planning group and individual treatment therapy through play, monitoring and writing evaluations.

March 2007 – November 2007

Working with a Senior Occupational Therapist for Catalyst Charity with the setting up and opening of the Independent Living Centre in Colchester. This role included setting up an adapted bungalow within Essex Equipment Store and promoting the new service through presentations to local groups. The role also included promoting telecare solutions and participation in Occupational Therapy assessments for members of the public. 

September 2002 - 2007

Healthcare Assistant- NHS Professional
Working with adults and children within the hospital environment. Sue gained a wealth of experience working on a variety of wards including stroke rehabilitation, orthopaedics, elderly care, children’s wards, surgical and oncology.

March 1999 – January 2002

Occupational/Physiotherapy Assistant.
Combine role within a hospital environment as part of a Multi Disciplinary Team, providing functional assessments for adults as part of their treatment plan on the ward and for discharge from hospital.

Working within the hospital and community providing support for individuals of all ages with a variety of complex conditions including learning disabilities and rehabilitation. 

Professional

Sue has attended courses for Manual Handling, Telecare Solutions Master Class and Safeguarding Children and Vulnerable Adults. Sue is a Safeguards Practitioner for vulnerable adults and attends regular training and specialist learning set groups once a month. Sue is a member of the British Association of Occupational Therapists and Health Professions Council.
