Overview
Lee qualified from Bath and Swindon College of Nursing in April 1992 as a Learning Disability Nurse.
Lee has wide-ranging experience in the provision of nursing care as part of and leader of multidisciplinary teams, from community nursing for adults and children with Learning Difficulties to managing a care home. She has widening expertise in teaching and assessing NVQ levels 1 to 4 students in Care, children and families and The Registered Managers Award. She joined Independent Living Solutions Ltd (ILS) in 2004.
Employment
2005 to present
As well as her work for ILS Lee is an advanced foster carer offering respite care to children with disabilities and full time care to children with difficult to manage emotional, social and behavioural issues. She also takes an active role in supporting other foster carers and has developed a training package for the local borough to train new and existing carers.
2002 to 2008
Lee worked as an NVQ assessor and verifier working with the Wiltshire Partnership. She also returned to work for Acer Care as a part time assistant manager for the homecare service to support the full time manager to help set up care packages, assess the need for care and support people in the community to remain in their own home. During this period also set up her own business offering holistic and beauty therapies to the local community as well as treating several people with disabilities.
2001
Home Care Manager on a part time basis for Acer Care employed to set up a home care service for domiciliary care for East Wiltshire Health Care NHS Trust.
1998 to 2006
Worked during this period as a full time reducing to part time nurse/carer of a disabled child and as assessor and verifier at Swindon College for adults carrying out their NVQ in care During this time she also went to college and gained certificates in teaching adults, a Diploma in Holistic Therapies and an A level in psychology.
1994 to 1998
Promoted to Deputy Manager and then Home Manager of the nursing home whilst also setting up the NVQ process throughout East Wiltshire Health Care NHS Trust and overseeing the candidates and assessors.
September 1992
Team leader for a large nursing home supporting adults with physical and learning disabilities. This role involved leading a team of staff to meet the clients’ varied medical needs, to support them in community integration as well as in the last stages of their lives to die in peace and with dignity.
April 1992
Community Learning Disability Nurse supporting families to care for their children with issues relating to, respite, educational, social and behavioural needs.
