Helena qualified in 1992 with a Diploma in Occupational Therapy from the London School of OT, and has several years of Case Management and Occupational Therapy experience, working with adults and children who have complex needs.

Helena has worked within NHS, Social Services and Wheelchair Services providing her with a broad experience of working with complex client groups with physical, cognitive and social problems.

Team Leader in  acute orthopaedic and traumatic surgery at Stoke Mandeville Hospital.

Roles included supervision and recruitment of staff and provision of occupational therapy  to clients  with spinal injury, amputations, bowel surgery, multiple fractures, back surgery and  complex social situations.

West Herts Wheelchair Service. Including postural and pressure care management. Covering all ages and medical conditions.

Assessment  and care management of adults with complex medical and  neurological conditions

West Herts Community Learning Disabilities Service.

Established the occupational therapy service for adults with mild/ moderate and severe learning and physical disabilities e.g. Cerebral Palsy, Epilepsy, Brain Injury and Down’s Syndrome.

 Role included working with clients in  their own homes, residential, day care centres, colleges and work to assess and optimise their independence,  liaising with other agencies and supporting carers.

Elderly Rehabilitation Service.

All general medical conditions seen. Functional assessment and equipment provision for discharge planning.

Basic grade rotational posts in South West Herts Community NHS Trust.
