Overview

Kate qualified in 2001 from the School of Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy at the University of East Anglia.  She qualified with a BSC Honours degree in Occupational Therapy. Kate has specialised from early on in her career in Neuro-rehabilitation.  As a result of this she has a particular interest and subsequent expertise in the field of Acquired Brain Injury.  She has worked in the NHS, private sector and for the MOD.

2009 to Present

Case Manager and Brain Injury Occupational Therapist with Independent

Living Solutions. Kate specialises in working with Adults and Young Adults with Acquired

Brain Injury and associated conditions. Kate is very active in the Brain Injury and Vocational

Rehabilitation group of treating Occupational Therapist’s within ILS

2008 – 2009:

Locum Senior Occupational Therapist in Neuro-rehabilitation in Surrey

posts include: Godwin Unit, Frimley Park Hospital and Sutton and Merton Community

Neuro Team.

2005 – 2008:

Senior Occupational Therapist in Neuro-rehabilitation at DMRC Headley

Court (MOD).  Specialising in working with young adults with Acquired Brain Injury,

particularly those with high level cognitive and executive difficulties. During her time at

DMRC Headley Court, Kate was involved in a large number of service development

projects, audits and supervision of junior staff and students.

2004 – 2005: 

Senior Locum Occupational Therapist in the Community Neuro Team for

East Elmbridge and Mid Surrey Primary Care Trust.  Specialised in Brain Injury and MS.

Kate assisted in developing the service for client users.

2003 – 2004:

Senior Occupational Therapist at Unsted Park Hospital (Neuro-rehabilitation). 

It was during this post that Kate started to develop her skills in the field of Acquired Brain

 Injury.  Kate also treated a variety of other neurological conditions, such as stroke, brain

 tumour and MS.  During her time at Unsted Park Hospital Kate was actively involved in all

service development.

2001 – 2003:  

Junior grade rotations at Kings Lynn and Wisbech Hospital NHS Trust.

 Rotations included: Elderly rehabilitation, Orthopaedic Out-patients, Acute Neurology and

 the Stroke Unit.

  • Kate continues to attend courses to assist in her personal development in the field of Brain Injury. Kate has presented on an ILS training day.
  • Kate has presented at a National Conference on ‘goal setting as an outcome measure’ in Brain Injury.
