Overview

Debbie qualified in 1979 from the London School of Occupational Therapy with a Diploma in Occupational Therapy.

Debbie has experience in the NHS and private sector as an Occupational Therapist working with adult clients and their families, and for ILS as a Case Manager and Occupational Therapist since 2005. Debbie has vast experience working with clients following ABI and has been on the management committee of a local Headway Group. Debbie has also worked in a voluntary capacity with the elderly, disturbed teenagers, and bereaved children. She has a particular interest in the psychological aspects of rehabilitation.

Occupational Therapist/Case Manager working with clients with acquired brain injury. Clinical Team Leader in the Adult Brain Injury and Vocational Rehab Service. Clinical Supervisor to Occupational Therapists and Case Managers.

2005-2006

Harrowlands and Unstead Park Neuro-Rehabilitation Centres.
Occupational Therapist working on a bank contract treating clients with acquired brain injury, holding clinical, management, and clinical supervisory roles.

2003 – 2005

East Surrey PCT.
Occupational Therapist working with the Intermediate Care Team treating a mixed caseload of clients in the hospital and the community. This involved implementing rehabilitation programmes, complex discharge planning, and providing long term support to clients with progressive neurological conditions.

1999 – 2003

Greenwich PCT.
Occupational Therapist with the Community Rehabilitation Team, carrying out rehabilitation and vocational programmes for clients with acquired brain injury and stroke.

1993 – 1999

Queen Mary’s Hospital NHS Trust.
Occupational Therapist involved in setting up and developing a Stroke Unit at Queen Mary’s Hospital, and leading the Occupational Therapy team on the unit working with both in and out-patients.

1987 – 1989

Sidcup, Kent. Stroke Advisor/Occupational Therapist. Provision of training for the MDT, supervision and training of Occupational Therapy staff as well as carrying a caseload.

Worked on as senior Occupational Therapy clinician on the pioneering Stroke Unit and Deputy Head of the Occupational Therapy Department.

Occupational Therapist working with a wide variety of adults of all ages, in general medicine, orthopaedics, rheumatology, neurology.

1998 - Moving and Handling Core Trainers Course leading to becoming the Moving and Handling Trainer for the Occupational Therapy Department.

1979 and 1983 - Bobath Course for Treatment of Adult Hemiplegia and subsequently worked as an accredited Bobath Tutor.

2010 - Diploma in Counselling Skills WPF Therapy.
Currently studying for an MA in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy at WPF Therapy
Continue to attend numerous short courses on aspects of Occupational Therapy treatment, and Case Management.

Taught on numerous short courses and study days on cognitive rehabilitation to OTs and MDTs.
