Overview

Emma qualified in 1998 with a BSc Hons in Occupational Therapy from the University of Southampton. Emma has worked extensively with adults with acute mental health problems and manages the Occupational Therapy department on an acute inpatient psychiatric ward and also has experience of working on a psychiatric intensive care unit. Emma also has experience working with adolescents with acute psychiatric problems and has worked in elderly mental health.

Emma has experience working within a multi disciplinary team that covers in patient and community teams and recognises the importance of good communication across teams and disciplines and the importance of a client centred approach.

Emma also has experience as a manager of an Ocupatonal Therpy service and has been responsible for the setting up of the Occupational Therapy service on the acute inpatient ward and the psychiatric unit for adults of working age, based in Salisbury and currently works there part time.

AWP NHS Trust, Occupational Therapy Team Leader/ Head Occupational Therapist, Fountain Way, Salisbury, managing the provision of an occupational therapy service on a 21 bed adult mental health acute admissions ward and 9 bed psychiatric intensive care unit.

2001 – 2003

AWP NHS Trust, Senior II Occupational Therapist, adult acute mental health, provision of Occupational Therapy service to a 24 bedded acute admissions ward, supervision of Occupational Therapy staff.

2000 - 2001

West Hampshire NHS Trust, Senior II Occupational Therapist, provision of a specialist Occupational Therapy assessment, advice and  intervention for adults and adolescents with acute mental health problems.

1999 – 2000

Dorset Community NHS Trust: Senior II Occupational Therapist, Elderly Mental health, split post.  Provision of therapeutic assessment for patients with a functional or organic illness, setting up and running a programme of social, mental and physical activities for individuals and groups of patients in order for them to maintain and improve their quality of life and provision of home visits and community work.

1998 – 1999

Frimley Park NHS Trust, Basic Grade Occupational Therapist rotation scheme; physical medicine providing a clinical treatment programme for a designated caseload and mental health day services, providing assessment and treatment programmes for a designated patients, organising and facilitating group activities in order to meet the individual needs of patients.
