Kirstie is a State Registered Occupational Therapist who qualified in 1994 from St Loye’s School of Occupational Therapy, Exeter with a Bsc (Hons) Occupational Therapy.

Kirstie has specialised in work with children since 1997, primarily with neurological conditions.

January 2009 – present

Independent Living Solutions. Case Manager/Occupational Therapist.  Member of posture management and seating team.

1997 – 2008

Paediatric Occupational Therapist (including paediatric rehab manager for

3 years and clinical specialist) based in child development centre.  Key clinical responsibilities include working with children and their families with a variety of disabilities and developmental conditions.  Specialising in neurological conditions, taking into account the child’s development, environment (home, pre-school setting) and neurological state. Assessing functional abilities, hands on treatment, assessing for equipment and adaptations.  Working in a variety of environments including family home, mainstream and special needs nurseries and schools. Key management responsibilities include leading the occupational therapy service for children under the age of 5 years which includes service development, promotion and implementation; member of a co-operative management team dealing with strategic planning, staff management, professional support and service promotion.

1994 – 1997

Junior Occupational therapist within an acute hospital.  Work including safe discharge planning and activities of daily living assessments and retraining.
