Overview

Susannah qualified from St Loyes, Exeter with a Diploma in Occupational Therapy in 1982.

Since qualifying she has worked in the field of learning and physical disabilities, primarily with children. She has also lectured at various institutions including the Jordanian School of Occupational Therapy. She joined Independent Living Solutions Ltd (ILS) in 2003.

Work includes provision of needs assessments, writing and implementing individual and group treatment programmes, training of other therapists, teachers and parents.

1985 - July 2002

During this period Susannah worked in various Middle Eastern countries in numerous settings including schools, rehabilitation centres, hospitals and community projects variously as Occupational Therapist, Occupational Therapy lead, Services Coordinator and Director. This work involved input into services for children from 0 to 18 years with a variety of difficulties including emotional, behavioural, perceptual, sensory, learning and physical disabilities.

1984 - 1985

Social Services Occupational Therapist providing assessment of future housing needs of learning disabled children and adults at the time living in large institutions; also included carer training and housing adaptation advice.

1982 - 1984

Occupational Therapist at a hospital for the learning disabled. Work included self-help training, therapeutic activity such as horticulture, drama, art and sheltered work.
