Qualified in July 1990 with Diploma in Occupational Therapy from Coventry Polytechnic.
Since qualifying have worked as Occupational Therapist within the NHS and then within social services. The work has mainly been with adults with physical disabilities and related mental health issues.
Employment History
September 2004 - present
OT employed by social services within community rehabilitation team working with adults. Role involves working with clients within their own home to achieve agreed rehabilitation goals and enable the individual to remain living independently. Involves assessing of physical and cognitive ability, assessment for housing adaptations, arranging relevant treatment and liaison with other disciplines re input, and setting up of care. Types of conditions treated are orthopaedic, and acquired neurological conditions such as Parkinson’s disease and stroke.
November 1999 - July 2004
Senior 1 therapist working on acute medical wards and Emergency Assessment unit. Involved assessment of patients in activities of daily living and sourcing of equipment and care. Required close liaison with other disciplines to meet individuals needs. Role involved development of the service to the wards, interviewing and recruitment of therapy staff and competency training of rehabilitation assistants

Head IV Occupational Therapist in 60 bedded community hospital in Oxfordshire working with adults. Post split between clinical and management. Clinical responsibility was assessment of personal and domestic capabilities, cognitive assessment, treatment planning and home visits including wheelchair assessment and provision. Managerial tasks included staff recruitment and supervision and budget control.
April 1992 - January 1996
Senior II / Senior I - general medical and surgical wards (Amputees) in Oxford. Role involved assessment and treatment of patients both physically and cognitively to enable safe discharge, assessment for and provision of wheelchairs. Developed special interest into pressure sores and prevalence.
