Overview

Debbie qualified in 1979 from the London School of Occupational Therapy with a Diploma in Occupational Therapy.

Debbie has experience in the professional and voluntary sector as an OT working with adult clients and their families, and for ILS as a Case Manager and OT since 2005. Debbie has vast experience working with clients following ABI and has been on the management committee of a local Headway group. Debbie has also worked in a voluntary capacity with the elderly, disturbed teenagers, and currently with children within a Bereavement project.

Independent Living Solutions ltd (ILS). OT/Case Manager working with clients with acquired brain injury. During this time Debbie has also worked as a bank member of staff for Harrowlands and Unsted Park Neuro-Rehabilitation Centres treating clients with acquired brain injury, holding clinical, management, and clinical supervision roles.

2003 - 2005

East Surrey PCT. OT working with the Intermediate Care Team treating a mixed caseload of clients in the hospital and the community. This involved implementing rehabilitation programmes, complex discharge planning, and providing long term support to clients with progressive neurological conditions

1999 - 2003

Greenwich PCT. OT with the Community Rehabilitation Team, treating clients with acquired brain injury and stroke in their own homes. Included some vocational work.

1993 - 1999

Queen Mary’s Hospital NHS trust. OT involved in setting up a Stroke Unit at Queen Mary’s Hospital, then leading the OT team on the unit working with both in and out - patients.

1987 - 1989

Queen Mary’s Hospital, Sidcup, Kent. Stroke Advisor/ OT. Provision of training for staff and support of OT staff. and carrying a caseload.

1981 - 1986

Greenwich Health Authority. OT working on a pioneering Stroke Unit as basic grade working up to Deputy Head.

District General Hospitals. OT working with a wide variety of adults of all ages, in general medicine, orthopaedics, rheumatology, neurology.

1998 Moving and Handling Core Trainers Course and was then the Moving and Handling Trainer for the Occupational Therapy Department.

1979 Bobath Course for Treatment of Adult Hemiplegia and subsequently worked as an accredited Bobath Tutor.
