Overview
Helena qualified in 1992 with a Diploma in Occupational Therapy from the London School of OT, West London Institute of Occupational Therapy. Since that time Helena has worked within both NHS and Social Services within a variety of posts including, Trauma Orthopaedic and Surgery, Learning Disabilities, Wheelchair Services, providing her with a broad experience working with complex client groups.

Acute orthopaedic and traumatic surgery at Stoke Mandeville Hospital. Team Leader post, supervision and recruitment of qualified and unqualified OT staff, to provide a service to all traumatic and surgical admissions to support discharge planning and compliance with post op precautions. Complex cases seen including lower limb vascular amputations, bowel surgery, multiple fractures, back surgery, complex social situations.
June 2002 to Feb 2004:
Day Centre for Adults with Physical Disabilities. Onsite Occupational Therapist assessing new clients prior to commencement at centre to ensure social and physical needs could be met, goal setting, moving and handling and equipment needs addressed, supporting clients with benefit applications.

West Herts Wheelchair Service. Assessment and re-assessment of clinical caseload for the provision of NHS wheelchairs for mobility, including postural management, pressure care, all medical conditions and ages seen.
