Overview
Richard has a longstanding interest and expertise in neuropsychologicalassessment and intervention and has acquired experience in this area across a broad range of neurological conditions. He has contributed to a large number of medico-legal reports within this area and has appeared in court as an expert witness. This has included considerable work with traumatic brain injured clients and their families. He is an approved practitioner on the Law Society Expert Witness Directory (2006) and has considerable experience of working alongside other disciplines in rehabilitation teams and teaching/training other health care/rehabilitation professionals. He has worked with adult and older adult stroke patients including neuropsychological assessment and intervention in both inpatient and community settings.
Richard has an Honorary contract with Southampton University, providing both Neuropsychology teaching on the Doctorate in Clinical Psychology and acting as an internal examiner. He has an interest in pursuing clinical research, in particular the evaluation of treatment for inattention; he has developed a treatment device for use by clinicians in this area (www.treatneglect.co.uk). He is also developing an interview protocol for investigating sexual relationships in younger adults following stroke using a qualitative research method.

Providing independent neuropsychological services, including assessment, treatment and consultation to a range of referring agencies including medico-legal and case-management services. This work includes a broad range of neurological diagnoses mild head injury/post-concussive symptoms, moderate-severe traumatic brain injury, stroke and anoxic brain injury. It also includes diagnostic assessment of degenerative disorders e.g. Alzheimer's Disease.

Portsmouth City NHS Trust. Assessing and treating patients with a range of neurological diagnoses on a post-acute in-patient neurological rehabilitation unit. Includes planning, implementing and monitoring cognitive rehabilitation programmes and providing a broad range of interventions with patients and their families alongside consultative input to the multi-disciplinary rehabilitation team, teaching/training and service planning/development.

Portsmouth City NHS Trust. Assessing, treating and contributing to multi disciplinary, inpatient and community neurological rehabilitation teams serving patients at various stages following acquired brain injury, including traumatic brain injury, stroke and anoxic brain injury.

Sussex Rehabilitation Centre, South Downs Health NHS Trust. Assessing treating and designing rehabilitation programmes for patients at the post acute stage of acquired brain injury.
