We assess need, working with family, carers or other professionals. We recruit physiotherapists and speech and language therapists.
We plan intervention with agreed goals and aims. We provide regular progress updates.
We provide hands-on-therapy.
We work closely with schools, supplementing existing therapies and recruiting help to ease the parents’ care burden. We even investigate which school will provide the most appropriate education.
We offer advice, training and support for families, carers and teaching staff. This includes developing out-of-school interests and activities.
We advise on equipment. The aim is always to maximise independence and opportunities.
We advise on housing. We work with designers and architects, to optimise the scope of the present home. If necessary, we assist the family in relocating to a more suitable one.
We provide clinical information to parents, carers and other professionals.
We help children with severe disability to enhance their everyday experiences, and access communication equipment. Thus, we help children to integrate – providing ‘buddies’ where necessary – and to handle the transition from childhood to adulthood.
