Personal Information

Clare qualified as a Physiotherapist after studying at Manchester University, and since then she has gained an MSc in Health Studies at St Georges University. Clare has over ten years of experience in paediatric physiotherapy working with children from 1-19 years and specialising in neuro-disability. She has worked in special and mainstream schools, clinics and in client’s homes.

Clare has excellent assessment, treatment and management skills for a wide range of neurological, musculoskeletal, orthopaedic and developmental conditions. She has developed specialist skills in assessment and treatment of children with complex disabilities Clare has also developed strong interpersonal skills, and she recognises the importance of listening to children’s and parent’s needs and ideas, regarding treatment and equipment.

Clare has worked extensively with other professionals and she enjoys working as a part of the multi-disciplinary team, but she can also work on her own initiative. She has considerable experience in training support workers, school staff and family members to follow physiotherapy programmes.

Career to Date

Specialist Paediatric Physiotherapist (part-time), Chailey Heritage Clinical Services, Sussex Community NHS Trust. Clare is responsible for providing a high standard of specialist physiotherapy to children and young people on her caseload who have complex neurological conditions such as cerebral palsy and acquired brain injury. Clare works as part of a multi-disciplinary team and she also provides assessments and advice to outpatients at a variety of clinics at Chailey Heritage Clinical Services, including orthopaedics, posture management, orthotics and movement clinics. Her role involves detailed assessments using a variety of assessment tools, and the planning and implementation of specialised treatment and management programmes drawing on her experience and training in different treatment approaches, so that it fits the needs of each individual child.
