Michelle Re -

Michelle qualified as an Occupational Therapist in 1999. Since 2002, she has specialised in the area of wheelchairs, seating and 24 hour postural management, working in a senior clinical role within a Wheelchair service.

Key areas of Expertise

  • Assessment of and prescription of manual and powered wheelchairs.
  • Complex physical assessment and prescription of specialist wheelchair seating solutions, including customised and modular seating solutions.
  • Expert knowledge of pressure care management including assessment using pressure mapping imaging and prescription of suitable pressure care cushions.
  • Use of pressure mapping and technology.
  • Working as a member of the multi-disciplinary team to find postural management solutions.
  • Experience with adults & children with neuro-disability, spinal cord injury and management of other long term conditions.

Location

Based in Cardiff and available to work across South West England. Able to work flexible hours to suit the needs of the client.

Career to Date

Posture Management Specialist Occupational Therapist with ILS since 2015 - Providing comprehensive assessment and intervention for people with complex physical health needs. Advice and support for provision of 24-hour specialist equipment, including wheelchairs, seating and sleep systems.

Pressure Care and specialist wheelchair seating solutions - Michelle has extensive experience of working within the field of pressure cushion prescription.

Lead Wheelchair & Seating Occupational Therapist, Cardiff NHS Wheelchair Service from 2002-2012 Leading a therapy and support team, assessing and prescribing for wheelchair and seating needs for adults and children with complex disabilities.

Prior to this Michelle gained experience as an Occupational Therapist in acute hospital and community settings.
