Career to date

Moving and Handling Advisor for Carers, White Lodge Centre, Chertsey since September 2003. Pat supervises a small team who provide bespoke moving and handling advice to family carers who live within five boroughs in Surrey.

This role involves visiting carers of all ages in their own homes, identifying their moving and handling needs and providing bespoke training to assist them to care for themselves and their loved one more safely. Pat liaises with other professional and voluntary organisations to ensure that carers receive all the support they require to assist them in their caring role. Wherever possible, joint working is undertaken with statutory organisations to ensure that adaptations and equipment are appropriate for the carer as well as the cared for person.

Moving and Handling Advisor, Independent Living Solutions since June 2010. Pat provides bespoke moving and handling advice to families and care staff of children and adults with physical disabilities. She undertakes detailed risk assessments, provides advice on adaptations and equipment and bespoke training sessions for families and care staff.
