Clinical Psychology
Brain injury has a devastating effect not only on the client but also on their family. Clinical Psychologists have specialist expertise in the direct and indirect impact of traumatic brain injury. Our clinical Psychologists work with adult clients and their families to address the following:
Understanding brain injury by providing education to the client and the family as to what happens when the brain is injured in order to enable them to understand why they are experiencing some of their difficulties.
Emotional issues occurring as a result of the injury or illness; such as coping with the trauma of the accident, PTSD, problems with adjusting to their disability and resulting lifestyle, loss, relationship difficulties, and personality change as a direct result of the insult to the brain.
Behavioural issues such as disinhibition, anger, motivation, pain management, sleep disturbance
Cognitive issues such as concentration, memory, organisation, initiation, impulsivity, etc
Facilitating the client and his/her family in understanding the impact of sensory-motor, perceptual and communication deficits on emotion and behaviour

Testimonials
“Without ILS I would have had difficulty arranging my house adaptions, the move to my new property and co-ordinating the agencies. The support has been very helpful and I couldn’t have managed without it.”
