Supporting those affected by brain injury: Headway’s vital work
Here at ILS Case Management, we’re committed to supporting children, young people and adults with brain and spinal injuries. That’s why we’ve been proud corporate supporters of Headway, the brain injury association, for a number of years.
Headway is a well-respected charity that works tirelessly to improve life after brain injury by providing vital support and information services. Their national presence offers a helpline and emergency fund as well as acting as the lead voice of the organisation, while their regional structure allows them to go a step further. By understanding the specific needs of brain injury survivors in different areas, they can tailor their services to make a real impact. This means individuals can access targeted support, like independent living skills workshops, exercise and fitness programs, or even cookery classes, all designed to help them rebuild their lives. Headway also recognises the importance of supporting carers, offering them invaluable support groups where they can connect with others facing similar challenges.
Beyond direct support, Headway is a powerful advocate for those affected by brain injury. They lobby for better support and resources to be made available, while also working to raise awareness of brain injury and the devastating effects it can have. Initiatives like Action for Brain Injury Week and Hats for Headway, which we are always glad to support, play a crucial role in raising public consciousness about brain injury and the challenges faced by survivors.
We share Headway’s dedication to empowering those affected by brain injury and are delighted to be able to support several regional branches of the charity in the past. Through initiatives like our referrer-nominated “12 Days of Christmas” charitable giving campaign, we’ve been able to directly contribute to their fundraising efforts. It’s important to recognise that these local groups and branches work hard to raise funds at a local level, allowing them to continue providing and developing the vital services their communities rely on.
We have also recently made a donation to Andrew Jenkins’ fundraising page in support of the national Headway charity. Andrew, known as a finalist in BBC’s The Traitors, is undertaking “The Big Trek” to raise funds for Headway. His efforts highlight the importance of community support and the impact that individual contributions can make.
Headway’s work is truly invaluable. By providing vital support services, information, advocacy, and raising awareness, they make a real difference in the lives of brain injury survivors and their families. We’re committed to continuing our support of Headway and the incredible work they do across the country.
