Debbie Singleton -

Debbie qualified from the London School of Occupational Therapy with a Diploma in Occupational Therapy. She has also gained a Post Graduate Diploma in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy and Certificate in CBT from WPF Therapy.

For Independent Living Solutions Debbie provides case management support carrying a small clinical caseload and providing mentoring to other Case Managers and Occupational Therapists. Debbie has a private practice and has provided Psychotherapy and Occupational Therapy treatment to clients and clinical supervision to Occupational Therapists for several years. She also works as a Psychotherapist with WPF Therapy.

Debbie has been on the management committee of a local Headway Group, she has also provided consultation on the development of neuro-rehab services in various organisations including Mildmay Hospital, London and Burswood Hospital, Kent. Debbie has worked in a voluntary capacity with the elderly, disturbed teenagers, and bereaved children. She has a particular interest in the psychological aspects of rehabilitation.

Debbie works using a client centred approach advocating strongly on behalf of her clients aiming to ensure that best interest and choice is paramount. Debbie works with clients and their families to assist in maximising the client’s full potential in all aspects of daily life. Using excellent communication skills to develop and maintain good working relationships with her clients and their families and ensuring there are able to engage fully in their rehabilitation process.

2005-2006 Harrowlands and Unstead Park Neuro-Rehabilitation Centres. Occupational Therapist working on a bank contract treating clients with acquired brain injury, also holding management, and clinical supervisory roles.

2003-2005 East Surrey PCT. Occupational Therapist working with the Intermediate Care Team treating a mixed caseload of clients in the hospital and the community. Implementing rehabilitation programmes, complex discharge planning, and providing long term support to clients with progressive neurological conditions.

1999-2003 Greenwich PCT. Occupational Therapist with the Community Rehabilitation Team, carrying out rehabilitation and vocational programmes for clients with acquired brain injury and stroke.

1993-1999 Queen Mary’s Hospital NHS Trust. Occupational Therapist involved in setting up and developing a Stroke Unit at Queen Mary’s Hospital, and leading the Occupational Therapy team on the unit working with both in and out-patients.

1987-1989 Queen Mary’s Hospital Sidcup. Stroke Advisor/Occupational Therapist. Provision of training for the MDT, supervision and training of Occupational Therapy staff as well as carrying a caseload.

1981-1986 Greenwich Health Authority. Senior Occupational Therapy clinician on the pioneering Stroke Unit and Deputy Head of the Occupational Therapy Department.

1979-1981 Greenwich Health Authority. Occupational Therapist working with a wide variety of adults of all ages, in general medicine, orthopaedics, rheumatology, neurology inpatient, outpatient and community settings.

Voluntary Work
1989 – 1993 Set up a Befriending Team for the Elderly in London Borough Bexley.
1999 – 2003 Member of the Management Committee of Headway South East London/North West Kent.
1999 – 2003 Worked with vulnerable teenagers as part of The Moorings Project, London Borough Bexley.
2005 to 2010 Work with bereaved children as part of ‘Holding On Letting Go’ project, Kent.
