I am a competent and skilled Occupational Therapist, with over 14 years of experience working in children’s disability and social care settings. I consider that I have excellent communication skills, I am calm under pressure, and I am able to adapt to new situations. I work well in a team but am also confident to work autonomously. I enjoy working with children in their own environments and am motivated to empower children and young people to achieve their maximum independence. My specialist skills are centred around home adaptations, equipment provision, moving & handling support and risk assessment.

• Completing initial assessments to determine the immediate and long term needs of children with complex physical and learning disabilities

• Assessing the needs of service users aged 0-18, their carers and the holistic needs of their family, both virtually and in person.
• Producing assessments, keeping accurate case records and writing professional reports (eg housing reports, moving and handling plans, risk assessments, supporting letters), using a number of IT systems.
• Providing advice on and assessing for specialist equipment, adaptation and housing needs.
• Viewing properties for families in both the social and private market, to ensure suitability for adaptation.
