Profile

I am an occupational therapist with 18 years’ experience of working with clients with complex disability in the community. I am passionate about ensuring my clients receive an excellent customer experience and am skilled at negotiating and resolving conflicts. I have excellent assessment and problem-solving skills and a wealth of experience in the provision of equipment and housing adaptations.

Previous Clinical Experience

2022-Present The OT Practice, Private Occupational Therapist

  • Currently working on the Bristol Project to assist with waiting list reduction for the Accessible Homes Service, Bristol City Council.
  • Allocation of cases via Case Manager referral and Charitable funding streams (e.g. RAF Benevolent Fund) predominantly for specialist OT assessment of complex adaptation and equipment needs.

2020 – 2022  South Gloucestershire Council, Advanced Grade Occupational Therapist

  • Support service to reduce back log of referrals
  • Manage a caseload of complex adaptations and support colleagues by joint working cases
  • Maintain client records whilst stringently adhering to confidentiality and GDPR
  • Compile and present cases to budgetary panels to request funding for major adaptation works and specialist equipment provision to meet assessed needs of service users

2010-2020  Bristol City Council, Home Adaptations Service, Advanced Grade Occupational Therapist

  • Co located Occupational Therapy and Housing Department team specialising in adaptations and rehousing.
  • Case load incorporated cases which required complaint/conflict resolution.
  • Provide Clinical Supervision for colleagues as service required.
  • Provide peer support to both Occupational Therapist and Occupational Therapy Aides.
  • Manage waiting list and case allocations in absence of Supervisor.

2009-2010  Leeds City Council, West Yorkshire, Senior Occupational Therapist, Disability Services Team

  • Social Services locality team within adult care.
  • Assisting servicer users to remain living independently at home through the provision of equipment and adaptations tailored to meet assessed need.
