Profile

Paul is a registered nurse with over 25 year’s experience in the health and social care sector. He has a wealth of experience in working with individuals with a variety of complex and challenging needs. Paul is able to quickly develop rapport with individuals and maintain a calm approach in difficult situations. He is skilled in assessing client’s needs and identifying recommendations to meet these. He has vast experience managing care teams and is able to lead these effectively.

Previous Clinical Experience

April 2022 – present: Cygnet Brunel Neuropsychiatric Brain Injury Rehabilitation Hospital, Bristol; Admissions and Discharge Coordinator

Developed extensive knowledge of community services and placements for those with acquired brain injury. Gained experience in benefits, housing, homelessness, immigration status, safeguarding concerns, Best Interests Meetings, family disputes, Mental Health Tribunals. Engaging with commissioners and agencies such as NHS England.

September 2016 – April 2022: Frenchay Brain Injury Rehabilitation Centre; Discharge Liaison Nurse

Working with Multidiscpinary team. Complex discharge planning for individuals with complex needs and challenging behaviour.

March 2016 – September 2016: Sunnymead Manor; Dementia Care Unit Manager

Working with elderly residents who may have cognitive, behavioural, physical health and or mobility issues. Managing rotas and staff training. Supporting the home manager to improve standards of a home that had previously received a poor CQC inspection report. Liaising with other professionals and family members to maintain the dignity and personality of those in our care.

January 2014-September 2016: West Country Case Management; Brain Injury Case Manager

Managing a caseload of clients with complex needs arising from Acquired Brain Injury. This included liaising with treating therapists and professionals, leading MDT and Best Interest meetings, staff and other meetings as required. Carried out assessments of need, writing reports from this making therapeutic and other recommendations. Instructed Professional therapists, managing their input and leading  MDT and other meetings as appropriate. Managed staff teams as required or monitored these, liaising with the care providers to ensure the best possible service.
