Profile
I qualified as a children’s nurse in 2014 and have experience of working in clinical settings as well as in the community, working in partnership with children and young adults and their families.
Previous Clinical Experience
January 2022 – December 2022: Clinical Liaison Nurse – Private Client (Deputy Appointed)
Supporting clients with brain injuries and spinal injuries. Supported a young adult to move from unsafe housing into an independent living trial, including looking for suitable accommodation, recruiting and setting up a team of support workers, writing care plans and transcribing MAR charts, sourcing members of MDT team and holding regular MDT meetings. I have also completed audits to ensure the best care is being given to the clients.
February 2021 – March 2022: Regional Paediatric Nurse – City and County Healthcare
Responsible for a large case load of children’s care packages in the community; Ensuring the carers have the correct training for the child’s requirements, completing regular updated care plans, and supporting the families ensuring they get the correct support and hours, this was done by liaising with the CHC and social work team. Attended regular MDT meetings. Completed competency checks with HCA’s yearly to ensure their practice is correct. I transcribed medication charts monthly to be used by the HCA’s in the home.
February 2018 – February 2021: Senior Band 6 Nurse – University College Hospital London
In children’s outpatients I had many roles as a senior staff nurse. I helped run the weekly allergy clinic alongside the consultants. I also helped run the pre-assessment clinic with the anaesthetic team seeing patients before surgery to ensure they are fit and well by asking multiple questions which could involve asking further questions resulting in contacting other hospitals to receive medical notes.
My other role in the children’s outpatients was to help support the team ensuring their training was up to date, completing yearly appraisals, supporting when they had any questions and assisting with the general running of the department.
March 2014 – February 2018: Staff Nurse – Great Ormond Street Hospital
Working within a fast-paced intensive care unit as well as a neurological ward. Liaised with MDT both within the hospital but also within the family’s wider community. Provided support to children with many different conditions including road traffic accidents, neurological conditions such as Cerebral Palsy, Oncology, Renal and Cardiac.
