Previous Clinical Experience

2013-Current - Independent Living Solutions Case Manager and Occupational Therapist. Providing case management for adults who have a variety of conditions and complex needs including acquired brain injury and spinal injury. She supports her clients in adapting to disability, maximizing their independence and accessing leisure pursuits and employment.

2009-2015 - A Specialist Occupational Therapist working in a community rehabilitation team. Providing assessment, treatment and advice to patients and their carers with a wide range of acute, chronic and terminal conditions. Suzanne uses her knowledge and experience to effectively meet the needs of people with acquired brain injury, spinal injury, and long term neurological conditions such as Motor Neurone Disease and Multiple Sclerosis. The majority of patients supported by Suzanne live in the community however some are assessed whist in respite care or other care settings.

2004-2009 - Senior Occupational Therapist based in a small community team in Tavistock. Working as part of a Multi-Disciplinary Team across the community hospital, intermediate care inpatient beds and the community. Involvement in securing funding for housing adaptations, carrying out manual handling risk assessments and providing equipment and training. Experience in liaising with GP’s, Consultants and other members of the Multi-Disciplinary Team to ensure consistency, shared goals and excellent communication.

2003-2001 - Senior Occupational Therapist in Plymouths 35 bedded Stroke Rehabilitation Unit managing a team of 7 Therapists. Providing assessment, treatment and rehabilitation programmes whist coordinating complex discharges from hospital to home. Responsibility for recruitment, supervision, appraisal and training of the OT Team.

1998-2001 - Senior Occupational Therapist on the Acute Neurology ward at Torbay Hospital. Providing assessment, treatment and advice regarding management of a range of acute and long-term neurological conditions. Working in Intensive Care with patients following Spinal Injury, Acquired Brain Injury, Encephalitis and other major Trauma.
