Treloar's Visit - Music, Sport and Much More

Treloar's School and College is part of Treloar's Trust, a registered charity, delivering education to disabled young people. Our Managing Director, Alison Barker, recently visited the college following our sponsorship of their swim kit earlier this year and here's what she had to say:

Abounding energy, enthusiasm and commitment sum up my impressions after my visit to Treloar's in July. I started my visit in the music department and one of the music teachers showed how they have every available avenue covered to enable all students to access all genres of music and who was clearly in tune with every student's need. She made me, a non-musician if ever there was one, want to study and explore music.

The new buildings and facilities are light, spacious and inspiring. The swimming team, whose kit we sponsor, had kindly gathered to meet me despite not being able to train that afternoon due to the pool being out of action. This did not dampen their enthusiasm in telling me all about their sport; from how they like to compete, how they love to train to showing me some of the very cool gear that is available to make independent swimming accessible to so many of the students. No wonder that it is one of the most popular and accessible sports.

Being a bit of a cricket lover, I couldn’t leave without asking about the Treloar's table cricket team who I know had recently had success at a tournament at the Ageas Bowl. They train regularly and, despite some recent rule changes which weren’t favourable to the team, continue to do much better than the England Ashes team it would seem!

Thank you to everyone who made me so very welcome.
