The Centre for Cerebral Palsy

In a combined role as senior speech pathologist and service development officer in Perth, Australia. Duties included working as part of a trans-discipline team with Occupational Therapist and Physiotherapist to provide mealtime management assessments (dysphagia), trialling AAC, completion and signing off of funding applications for AAC devices, assessment and therapy for speech & language issues including literacy difficulties.

The senior roles included supervision of seven therapists, developing provision of new services and extending existing ones. In addition to caseload allocation and budgeting for resources, I also organized and provided professional development training for colleagues internally and externally (education).

South Staffordshire PCT & Birmingham PCT

The post here involved carrying out assessments, making recommendations in written reports and providing therapy across a variety of different settings, for children with a range of complex difficulties (cleft palate, disordered speech, voice and autistic spectrum disorders).

The LEARN Centre

I worked as a senior speech and language therapist in East Fremantle, Perth with a team of twenty psychologists and an occupational therapist. We jointly provided Verbal Behavioural Therapy (a variety of ABA) to children with an autistic spectrum disorder.


An independent practice caseload including Local Authority contracts to see children with speech/language needs in Special schools. I also worked one day per week in a specialist semi-secure school for pupils with autistic spectrum disorders that could not function within mainstream settings. Training sessions were provided for colleagues at SIG’s and professionals in other disciplines. Adult rehabilitation therapy following strokes/brain haemorrhages etc.

General speech & language assessments and therapy provided for children and adults with voice issues. Expert witness service was also provided for families involved in SEN Tribunals.
