Kate Trodd - BSc OT

Kate joined Independent Living Solutions Ltd in 2005

Kate is a Case Manager and OT for children and adults with ABI and CP. Since joining ILS and throughout her career, Kate uses her expertise both within her own active case load and also to support a group of Case Managers within ILS in her mentoring role.

Kate is a BABICM Advanced Registered Practitioner


  • Case management of adults and children with an acquired brain injury and cerebral palsy
  • Writing clear concise comprehensive needs assessments using functional and cognitive assessment skills
  • Providing assessment, treatment and advice to clients with a wide range of acute and chronic conditions
  • Assessment for and provision of Equipment and Adaptations for adults and children with disabilities
  • Working both in acute and community settings
  • Working alongside legal teams throughout the litigation process
  • Staff recruitment, supervision, appraisal and training
  • Liaising with multi-disciplinary team members and coordinating effective rehabilitation

Kate has excellent communication skills with a proven track record of making relationships with individuals who are hard to reach using a skilled approach to build rapport and a good working relationship with her clients. Kate’s can- do attitude and skilled approach enables her to foresee potential risks and take action whilst enabling her clients to achieve their goals.

Kate is able to work with a wide variety of age groups from children to adolescents, through transition and adulthood.

Anywhere in South Central Area. (Hampshire, Surrey, Wiltshire, Dorset, Isle of Wight etc.).


2005 to date Independent Living Solutions Case Manager and Occupational Therapist.

May 2010 - May 2011 Southampton Social Services Children’s Services OT. Maternity Leave cover 1-2 days a week. Assessment for and provision of Equipment and Adaptations for children with disabilities within Southampton City Council.

April 2010- October 2010 Eastleigh Social Services Adult Services OT (locum). Assessment for and provision of equipment and adaptations for adults with Eastleigh Borough Council.

2003 – 2006 Southampton Social Services- OT in long and short term teams, and rehab teams (locum) working with a wide range of disabilities and age ranges. Assessing for and providing equipment and adaptations through grant schemes and local housing authorities and associations.

1997 - 2003 Southampton Community Health Services NHS Trust- Paediatric OT (and deputy manager- included supervision of staff) in Acute and Long Term Neurology Teams, working with children with ABI and Muscular Dystrophy, with hands on treatment of children and in mainstream and special schools on secondment.

1995-1997 Brevard County Schools, Florida, USA for mainstream schools - Paediatric Occupational Therapist. Providing hands on Occupational Therapy for children in mainstream and special classes.

1994-1995 Various Locum posts within Leeds and Manchester Trusts.
