Client’s Inspiring Challenge to Support Ability Dogs 4 Young People IoW

Client’s Inspiring Challenge to Support Ability Dogs 4 Young People IoW

At ILS Case Management, we’re proud to support our clients in achieving their personal goals — and today, we’re excited to share the story of one client who is taking on an incredible challenge for a cause close to her heart.

This September, our client — who lives with cerebral palsy and uses an electric wheelchair for mobility — will be completing a personal triathlon-style challenge to raise funds for Ability Dogs 4 Young People IoW, a local charity that has made a life-changing difference in her journey toward greater independence.

With the support of her dedicated ILS care team, she is training to complete:

  • A 200-metre walk using her walker
  • A 200-metre swim
  • A 200-metre cycle on an adapted trike

This is no small feat — it’s a deeply personal goal that reflects her determination, resilience, and desire to give back.

The charity she’s fundraising for, Ability Dogs 4 Young People IoW, trains assistance dogs to support children and young people with physical and mental disabilities. These specially trained dogs help with everyday tasks like opening doors, retrieving items, and even alerting to medical emergencies. But their impact goes far beyond the practical — they also provide emotional support, reduce anxiety, and help build confidence in social and educational settings.

Our client has experienced this first-hand. Thanks to the charity, she was matched with Brandy, a chocolate Labrador who now plays a vital role in her daily life. Brandy not only assists with practical tasks but also offers companionship and emotional reassurance, helping her navigate the world with greater confidence and independence.

Now, she’s determined to help others benefit in the same way.

We at ILS have proudly donated to her fundraising efforts and will be cheering her on every step, stroke, and pedal of the way. Her courage and commitment are truly inspiring, and we hope her story encourages others to support this fantastic cause.

Let’s help her reach her goal — and help more young people experience the life-changing support of an Ability Dog.
