ILS Takes on AvMA’s 50 Miles in May Challenge

This May, a small but mighty team from ILS Case Management laced up their trainers, hopped on their bikes, and even hit the dance floor to take part in the AvMA 50 Miles in May challenge — a fundraising initiative supporting the vital work of Action against Medical Accidents (AvMA).

AvMA is the UK charity for patient safety and justice. They provide support to people affected by avoidable harm in healthcare, promote better patient safety, and campaign for improvements in how the healthcare system responds to medical accidents. Their work is essential in ensuring that patients and families are treated with compassion and fairness when things go wrong.

The 50 Miles in May challenge encourages individuals and teams to complete 50 miles throughout the month of May, in any way they choose — whether that’s walking, running, cycling, or even dancing. And that’s exactly what we did! Our team collectively clocked up an impressive 176 miles, with contributions coming from scenic walks, energetic runs, and long bike rides. Special mention goes to our Marketing & Business Development Manager, Sandy Fitzgerald, who danced her way through several hours to help us reach our goal — a truly joyful way to rack up the miles!

So far, the 2025 campaign has raised over £9,000, and we’re proud to have contributed to that total by raising over £200 through our team efforts. Every mile and every pound helps AvMA continue their mission to support those affected by medical accidents and to advocate for safer healthcare for all.
