Case Management

At any one time, ILS are working nationwide with over 200 adults, children and young people who are living with complex disability following catastrophic brain or spinal injury.

In the midst of such a sudden change of life circumstances, Case Management can be crucial in supporting the client and their family from early post trauma and post settlement stages and often for many years to come, ensuring that their needs are addressed, and their future hopes and ambitions realised.

What is Case Management?

"Case Management is a collaborative process which: assesses, plans, implements, co-ordinates, monitors and evaluates the options and services required to meet an individual's health, social care, educational and employment needs, using communication and available resources to promote quality cost effective outcomes." - CMS UK

What do they do?

A case manager holds the client’s best interests front and foremost at all times, coordinating care and rehabilitation, tailored to specific needs following a life changing injury. The aim is always to enable the clients to regain and maintain the best quality of life, and they work closely with families, fund-holders and care teams to support every aspect of their client’s physical, cognitive, and emotional wellbeing.

The practicalities of a case manager’s role can be as diverse as the individual they support. At ILS our case managers have helped clients to return to work, visit festivals with their friends, go camping, continue enjoying family holidays, choose and use adapted vehicles or even just to be able to independently visit shops or the local pub – things that are easy to take for granted or overlook but that are important in restoring a sense of some normality and enjoyment to everyday life.

ILS Case Managers

With a team covering the nation, our case managers are all highly experienced, professional adult and paediatric specialists, and many have backgrounds ranging from occupational therapy to nursing. All of our case managers are registered with BABICM and CMSUK, and some have achieved Advanced Registered Practitioner Status with BABICM.
